Nico Fenn

Since 1994

Now

What I am actually doing at the moment, rather than what my biography says I do. Last updated in March 2026.

I moved to Lisbon in 2023 and have stayed longer than I told anyone I would. Most days start with two hours of writing before I open anything with a notification in it, which is the single change that has done the most for the quality of my work.

The bulk of my week goes to Halfmoon. It is small on purpose — me, one engineer, and a designer two days a week — and I would like to keep it that way for as long as the numbers allow.

The rest goes to writing. I publish about once a month, usually after something has gone wrong often enough that I finally understand it.

Currently

Building
Halfmoon — scheduling for studios that bill by the day.
Reading
The Making of Prince of Persia, Jordan Mechner. A diary, not a postmortem, which is why it is good.
Learning
Portuguese. Slowly, and mostly from my neighbours.
Avoiding
Anything that requires a second monitor before ten in the morning.
Open to
One advisory day a month, and conversations about pricing.

Say hello.

I read everything and I reply to most of it. Tell me what you are building, or what you disagreed with.
